Day one , Pair one

Ok so I figured I would start off from yesterday.  Now I love the Asics Gel Lyte 3, and I mean I love it.  That is where the problem lies.  Being in America we hardly get any decent colorways of the model.  It's mostly ugly placed colors on the shoe.  I think it is mainly because shoe stores see Asics as a running shoe company, so the company doesn't waste time or money on bringing the high end models to America.  Now before this Ronnie Feig craze and Nicekicks craze, there were very few nice Gel Lyte 3's made available to Americans, not including what you could get on Ebay or where ever else on the internet.

One of the nice models came to America in the form of a collaboration with Alife of New York.  If you're into sneakers than you know about Alife. They started out a small sneaker boutique, and I believe one of the first stores to adapt the "boutique" stlye to their store.

Back to the shoe.  I remember seeing these and thinking to myself " I would rob a homeless person of their "need change" sign to get these."  And I was serious.  I was just getting into sneakers at the time and for me this was a new concept.  They made the shoe to look like a monster, including plastic eyes for the shoe laces.  I hadn't realized that it was actually three shoes, each one a different monster.  I saw the black ones first, known as the "Black Lagoons" and decided to chase these down.
Now  being in the Army has its ups and downs.  The downs were in play here.  The majority of the time the Army sends you to small hick towns, where the mall and local bowling alley are  the "What's happening."  So for me, I had to do a lot of phone chasing( calling different stores to see if they had them and if they will do phone orders and ship.) That didn't play out, so I had to go where people sell Jesus chaped chips.  And as luck would have it, their they were in all thier glory, I spent no time waiting, I placed my bid determined not to be beat.  Oh yes I won, looking back at it though, maybe paying 250 dollars for them might have been to much. But for me, knowing that Gel Lyte 3's were hard to come by period, I reasoned it out in my head, saying to myself I am paying for availibility.
In all I love the shoe.  It has the split toungue, which I never witnessed to be on any other shoe, not to say that there aren't any other brands that do that.  The quality of the material is superb for a "running shoe".  These were obviously not meant to run in though being they have the all leather toe box.  Which makes the shoe look great, until you actually wear them then they start to get those damn ugly streak running across the toebox.  The eyes make for an awesome attention getter, I am not so much into that so I keep them boxed unless I am taking pictures of them.
So I got into the top 20 of sneakernews.com WDYWT, vote for em
